Shapes...the begining of Geometry

Shapes are the beginning of Geometry for Kindergarteners and 1st graders.

Recognition:
1)  Recognize and name a Circle, a Triangle, and a Square.  Use printable cutouts below.
2)  Recognize and define a "point" ...see "Shapes exercise 1 " below.
3)  Define the concept of a "plane" ...see "Shapes exercise 1" below. 

Familiarity:
1) 
Let your child or students play with different shapes...and practice naming them.
2)  Play with "Put the square in the circle" with toys that allow children to put geometric shapes in their appropriate "holes".
3)  "Pin the tail on the donkey" is a great practice game for the concept of "points" make sure to have the children "connect
the dots".  Explain how this is a "plane" (2 dimensional).
