Exploring Lines - Page 2 (6th grade, review for 7th grade)
Line Segment: the shortest path between
two points Q and R. We visualize this segment as a trace without bends, that is
drawn straight between Q and R. Infinitely many points exist along this path. Infinitely many means
we cannot count the number of points between Q and R, that is, there is no limit to the number of
these points. A
line segment is named by its endpoints with a line over the
top: 
Line: a line segment that continues
indefinitely before Q and after R. Infinitely many points exist in a line as well. A
line is named by two points it contains with a line with
arrows on each end over the top: 
Ray: a line segment from Q to R,
starting at Q but continues indefinitely after R. Infinitely many points exist also
in a ray. A ray is named by
two points with a single arrow line over the top:
